Auto Repair The Way It Should Be

Well, some time has passed since I’ve written, so I thought I’d take a few minutes to write again. A little while back, I separated from a business partner, for a lot of reasons.

This move forced me to plan, write and execute an entire workshop on my own. It was a tremendous amount of work, and I was totally exhausted going into the event yesterday. It was also a raving success. The group’s energy was high, the information and ideas flowed and it was great.

I’ve always thought of myself as a confident and capable person, but leading that group, and signing up other people (many of whom are much older than me) into my group re-affirmed my self confidence. I do know what I’m doing, and I was really glad I made the move I did.

I have finally found the thing I love. I love marketing, and I love computers, I guess I always have, and I love teaching and inspiring people. This is the perfect balance of all of those things.

I’ve heard time and again that when you find the thing you love, it’s not work to do it, and now I’ve experienced that myself. Yes, I was beyond exhausted after yesterday’s meeting, but it was an excited exhaustion and it didn’t feel like work, it felt like home.

Running this group, striking out on my own, all a bit scary, and all so worth it.

39, and finally coming into my own, finding my place…

and I am happy.

So why do we celebrate birthdays? This does seem to be a tradition dating back from many years ago, and like most other things have we Americans taken it to another level?

Today, I love celebrating my birthday, years gone past I used to think to myself, well it’s no big deal, let’s not make a fuss. Blah, blah, blah… truth is, I think inside I didn’t want anyone to celebrate it, because I didn’t want to be disappointed, or resentful if they didn’t do what I wanted, if I didn’t get what I wanted. Luckily, I’ve learned better now. I now ask for what I want, and if it doesn’t happen, well that’s ok too. The people I love, and that love me, I’ve found, respond with warmth, and care, and give what they have to give, and that’s usually more than enough.

I like the line line from ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ – it’s no small thing to celebrate a simple life. Today I will celebrate mine, with friends, family, some good wine, and the people I love.

What more could a man possibly ask for? What more could I possibly need?  (well a cool million or two in the bank wouldn’t suck, but that’s another blog entry..)

Today, I am happy, and I know I am loved.

A while back, I got pretty good at marketing to my customer base, I’ve spent the last 8 years reading about and testing out great marketing ideas, but I’ve always had one big fatal flaw in my marketing system.

And that flaw was me.

We would have a slow time at my small business, and I would then have the time to get some marketing going, which would shortly afterward generate a flood of new business, and I would then be busy taking care of the customers, and attending to the day to day details of running my small business.

and then we’d slow down again, and I’d work to get some marketing going again, and bring in business…

and so this cycle went on and on, year after year, it sucked.

I would often think to myself, ‘if I could just get the marketing to happen automatically, I could really make a lot of money’, but in spite of my best efforts, I was never able to pull that off…

Until recently.

I discovered the answers to my prayers. I found the very thing I’d been searching for for years, and it was even better than I had imagined.

Come join me on April 22nd where I’ll share my struggle to build my small business, and what it took to finally break free from the dreaded cycle I described above.

Spend a couple of hours with me, and learn the secrets that only the smartest, most savvy business owners in the world are currently using, and why, if you own a small business, you’d be out of your mind to miss this.
